VP of Finance

This is an opportunity to lead the operations and strategy of finances across all Launch Potato businesses. This is a full-time position out of our Delray Beach office.

This is not “just” an controller role, this is an entrepreneurial position that requires a passion for technology and growing businesses. You will be in a high-visibility leadership role, proactively positioning our businesses and pushing LP forward to be one of the most successful digital companies in the world.

You must have at least 8 years of progressive hands-on finance experience, ideally moving from audit to making actionable recommendations to senior leadership. CPA preferred. Experience working at a technology/ad tech/martech company and M&A experience a plus.


Launch Potato is a profitable startup studio that incubates and scales mobile and web companies on our proprietary technology stack.

Our entire team is hands-on, including the founders. This role would also be very hands-on.


The successful candidate will be able to expertly execute on a tactical level while also being able to quickly shift to strategic planning.

You’ll own all aspects of accounting reporting and operations including receivables, payables, payroll/benefits, and financial reporting. You’ll work with internal and external teams to ensure that the company’s finances are managed effectively while assisting in general operations necessary for the company’s operational and financial goals.

You’ll also work closely with the executive team and product leads to develop and implement both short and long term strategies that will help grow LP and its businesses. This includes but is not limited to company structuring, risk management, business financing, and tax planning.

• Own all aspects of accounting operations including receivables, payables, payroll and financial reporting; prepare month-end reconciliation of all accounts within 7 days of month end

• Be responsible for all bookkeeping across businesses; ensure books, records, and reports are accurate, timely, and well-presented according to GAAP

• Ensure capital reporting and financial statements are up to date on daily/monthly/annual basis

• Create cash flow analysis and forecasts; provide recommendations and guidance on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis to exec team and internal product teams

• Work closely with internal teams to set goals using previous performance metrics, forecasting, competitive research, and online trends

• Act as primary point of contact for external vendors for AR/AP

• Find new opportunities to increase revenue and cash flow

• Develop and execute monthly audits; work with internal teams to remove obsolete assets and unnecessary costs

• Work closely with CPA firm and Financial Advisory firm for strategic planning, tax planning, and financial reporting

• Assist in business operations including but not limited to risk planning, insurance management, recruiting, and talent development

• Create and document policies and procedures both in the finance and general operational realms

• Participate in corporate policy development as a member of the senior management team

• Represent the company to financial partners as needed, including financial institutions, auditors, etc.

• Proactively communicate invoice statuses and any issues to internal teams

• Remain up to date on city, state, federal law and regulations

• Resolve operational issues through quick thinking, problem solving and appropriate action

• Organize documents online in Google Drive


• Minimum: Bachelors or masters degree in business, economics or finance; 8+ years minimum hands-on experience in audit, followed by experience evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to senior leadership

• Excellent understanding of balance sheet accounting, accrual accounting and financial statement preparation

• Certification in QuickBooks Online

• Demonstrated excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, and reporting

• Strong knowledge & execution of tax process (federal form, state forms, W9/1099 implementation and execution) and payroll (benefits, out of state employees)

• Proven success establishing and maintaining internal controls & immaculate record keeping

• Very tech-savvy and high aptitude for understanding marketing terms

• Passionate about technology and growing digital businesses

• Proven success managing and strengthening vendor relationships

• Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model

• Strong business acumen and enthusiasm about identifying trends and new opportunities

• Ability to effectively present and communicate your analysis

• Results-driven with exceptional detail and knowledge around online advertising metrics

• Extremely detail oriented

• Extremely resourceful and enjoys overcoming challenges

• Excellent analytical and writing skills

• Excellent telephone presence and negotiating skills

• Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can balance multiple tasks in a startup atmosphere

• Experience exercising discretion and protecting confidential company information


• CPA; Big 4 experience

• Experience working in a CFO-type role with a technology, adtech, or martech company

• Deep understanding of digital advertising channels

• Experience in M&A and deal structure in the digital sector

• Advanced Excel i.e., experience developing regression analyses

• Demonstrated success in business development


Our normal team work hours are roughly 10am-5pm ET M-F and Launch Potato allows a flexible schedule with the goal of accommodating your productivity. There may be times where you’ll need to meet certain deadlines and will be expected to do whatever you have to do to successfully accomplish them.

Additionally, we are a distributed digital team and there may be late/early meetings due to different time zones. We always try to work with everyone's schedules but at times there may be meetings earlier in the morning and later at night.
